Brushing, Flossing, Irrigation,. . . hmm
I say — go with what works, not with whatever the so-called ‘experts’ are telling you.. How well would you say America’s health is faring? To me, it could be a lot better. Experts rarely agree. Scant testing, little ‘science’ being used. Too many greased wheels – the system at work!
I have put up a number of posts relative to our oral health over my 8 + years, so not going to explain it all again. Realizing how hard it is to find some unknown post on this overly large blog, took a little pity on you guys and found some of them for you. Some of the best minds — both alternative and holistic have appeared on these pages, and above all, I have greatly profited and simplified. Could say I’ve indeed learned how to care for my own teeth – mouth, to my total satisfaction, free of worry, fear of loss and saved a whole lot of money. Over the years, I’ve lost three molars which caused a bit of shifting resulting in some spacing I never had before. Used to be very hard to floss as teeth were so tight together. Stuff changes.
But what I found for myself, I would very much like for all of you to also have in your own lives. Immunity is vital to our health. It starts in our mouth. Our oral ‘micro-biome is the first link to our immunity which works hand in glove with our gut – the home base. Without our nutritional needs being met, our immunity suffers. We find diet and what goes into the mouth is just as important as anything we can do to care for and meet the needs of our gums and teeth. For all these reasons, I am giving you a list of my favorite posts on “healthy oral care.” Check them out and you can be as happy and free from worry as I am. You’ll know what to do, how to do and why. Many similarities in all of them, i.e. . . simplicity, ease of doing, remarkably cheap and uncomplicated. Works for me. . . . but first — the article with this late news.
Medical benefits of dental floss unproven
By JEFF DONN AP National Writer, Aug 02 2016
This above ‘smallish’ article was the easiest to use as it allows revealing the main point of the current news, which is what I wanted. ALL of the other ones were so huge and mainly being fueled by dissenting dentists and specialists who were clinging to their comfortable “knowledge” they were espousing (valid or not). If you need or want to see any of that — its all over the place — copy and paste the title into your browser – you’ll find it –videos and all.
I was mainly interested in the fact that government decisions and recommendations to the public at large — MUST be based on fact – SCIENCE, but this had been done over the decades without that requirement. AND, the little testing which has been done has been done with passe (out-worn), inadequate guidelines — thus producing only so-s0 or mediocre results. But because of this long-standing, accepted ‘truth’, it still stands high amongst the ‘experts’. And there you have it. We also have people by the millions who floss, but are still growing plaque. . . have bleeding gums. . and teeth still decaying at the same (if not increasing) rate. We’ve been conned? It’s our own fault? Maybe. But we DO need to ask more questions; also, need to think deeply about options. We NEED to “think for ourselves.”
Please let me recount (once again), that it has been, I dunno – maybe 5 or so years since I saw a dentist for the last time. When he quoted $28,000 to refurbish my mouth (all I had wanted was an extraction of a lower left molar “root”which was still entombed where it had always been) after the tooth had broken off). He couldn’t do it – get the job done. He said I was too tense, could tell it the moment he walked into the room. Never saw a dentist again. It doesn’t seem to have been a problem to me, but I don’t recommend such seeming inaction unless one is willing to give the energy, time and loving care I give my teeth for their ‘beyond-the-call-of-duty’ service. Have been using a combination of ingredients I learned from John at Learning Herbs, and especially from Nadine Artemis of Living Libations and selling thru David Wolfe’s Longevity Warehouse. (plus a thing or two I’ve added along the way). For well over forty years I have used oral irrigators with either sea-salt or baking soda in hottish water to flush out my teeth and gums. I finish by dipping a Q-tip into a small vial I use of neem oil combined with bit of olive-oil, Aloe vera gel, bit of distilled water, few drops of Peppermint essential-oil and/or cinnamon oil. Shake well – it separates, then dab it along the gum line inside and out where gums meet teeth. Not delicious, but not too yucky. But hey, haven’t had bleeding gums in years now and my teeth aren’t wobbly — they sit very snug in the gums. And they are as white as almost anyone’s. All is pure, organic and/or non- toxic.
So, lets isolate a few other of these helpful dentists and one non -dentist, Stephan Guyenet, starting with him. This post was called “Reversing Tooth Decay” November 1, 2014. Smart as a whip, is a medical writer- reporter and highly regarded. One can learn a great deal from the knowledge base he carries around in that head. I’ve included Guyenet because he shows quite clearly the type of foods and diet we should include for ourselves, which in fact, can remineralize the teeth and reverse tooth decay, showing what and why with the science behind it.
Next is Dr Tim Rainy, a pioneer in Alternative Dentistry. This one is entitled “Dental Protection is Out There” Feb 2, 2013. Like any other ‘messenger’ crying to be heard, he had a most difficult time. Established powerful interests never take to change well. But his persistence was rewarded with an entire new philosophy emerged and spread like wildfire from which there will never be a turning back. He practiced Minimally Invasive dentistry.. less pain, less cost and it lasted. That’s why they loved him.
So #4 is Dr. Robert O. Nara. One o the best! No clue about the title I gave his post “Tooth ills (a few fixes)” Aug 24,2013. His lofty goal was to help people keep their teeth for the whole lifetime without pain, expense or fear of seeing a dentist again (traumatic for quite a few people). Just keep the gums and teeth healthy for a lifetime. He taught others how to remineralize and heal and stay healthy!
Dr Hal Huggins may in fact be the most famous Holistic Dental Pioneer. It was from him that Dr Thomas Levy (that I told my readers about who popularized the LIPOSOMAL products, Vitamin C and also Glutathione, that I now do for myself), learned of the Liposomal process in the first place. Dr Huggins would treat even deathly sick patients, with everything he knew in order to save patients. (and all while taking care of their teeth). He was amazing and will be sorely missed as he recently passed away at age 77. The post I had on him was from David Wolfe – complete with video, but it haas been removed, the video is non-functioning now. It was Holistic Dental Pioneer, Hal Huggins 12-8-14. You may be able to see him on Youtube – worth a try. He was simply, . . everybody’s favorite.
Have a mixed bag of others I’ll just name:

Brought the following over from Dr Huggins site:
EDUCATION – Educating yourself about toxicity and related dental practices will help you understand why it is important to take care of your overall health and common dental procedures. You may want to educate yourself on dental toxicity by reading some of these recommended books.
A partial list includes:
It’s All in Your Head, by Hal Huggins DDS, MS
Solving the Mystery, by Hal Huggins DDS, MA
Uninformed Consent, by Hal Huggins DDS, MA and Thomas Levy MD, JD
Root Canals: Savior or Suicide? By Hal Huggins, DDS MS
Root Canal Cover-up, by George E. Meining DDS, FACD, FICD
Once you have gained a better understanding of harmful potentials of dental materials, you can make educated decisions about your health and your choice of dentistry.
